URBAN AREAS SIGNALLING DAY On the 5th of May AFASEMETRA, in collaboration with the Madrid City Hall, organised in the School of Roads, Canals and Ports of Madrid the Urban Areas Signalling Day. The sessions were chaired by Ms. Mercedes Aviñó Bolinches, President of AFASEMETRA and General Manager for Postigo Obras y Servicios. In Spain, during the last years the number of accidents has been notably reduced. Nowadays the drivers are aware of their actions while driving, as well as of the importance of getting the right information given by the signalling in order to drive safely. AFASEMETRA accounts for 25 years guaranteeing that the signalling achieves its function: to inform of their messages to the drivers with time enough to react. Only when the Vertical Signalling fulfils the necessary requirements and it is properly installed will achieve its main function: to collaborate with the Road Safety, thus, to reduce the traffic accidents. Just like the driver who collaborates with the Road Safety not drinking alcohol or not talking on the phone. Just like the driver who follows the security rules. The Madrid City Hall requests AFASEMETRA to organise these sessions to discuss these issues under the background of a metropolis, Madrid, where the Vertical Signalling has to deal with several scenarios: well-lit streets, big avenues, high capacity urban roads, even ring road motorways. |
